Unlock how tokenizing real-world assets is reshaping global investment access in 2025, and discover how to build your own compliant RWA platform with OQTACORE.

Insights from Edwin Mata, CEO of Brickken

As tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs) dominates conference stages and funding decks in 2025, there’s a critical need to separate trend-chasing from infrastructure-building. At the forefront of this movement is Brickken, a leading platform in capital market tokenization that enables companies to digitize financial instruments, and do it compliantly, globally, and at scale.

To get an inside look, we spoke with Edwin Mata, CEO and Co-founder of Brickken, who shared what’s really shaping the RWA sector behind the buzz.

🌍 The Regulatory Maze | How to Navigate It

“There’s no unified global view of how tokenization should work,” Mata says. “That’s the main challenge.”

Countries interpret tokenized assets differently. What’s compliant in Europe might not fly in MENA or Southeast Asia. Instead of fighting that fragmentation, Brickken embraces it: local partners help each client navigate their specific legal landscape, while Brickken provides the compliant, tech-first infrastructure underneath.

“We’re the software  –  they bring the legal expertise.”

This hybrid approach blends scalability with trust. And as governments better understand tokenization as an evolution of capital markets, Mata believes regulation will become more proactive, not restrictive.

⚙️ Why Blockchain Makes Capital Markets More Efficient

Brickken’s mission is rooted in reducing friction  –  especially for small investors and international transactions.

“Stablecoins are game-changing,” Mata says. “If someone in Thailand wants to invest €100 in a German project, that’s nearly impossible using banks. With blockchain, it’s simple, fast, and cost-effective.”

This cross-border fluidity is a core benefit of tokenization  –  allowing global retail investors to access opportunities once reserved for institutions.

đź’¸ Which Assets Will Win? Follow the Profit

When asked which assets have the most potential for tokenization, Mata offers a practical lens:

“Anything profitable. If the asset has value and there’s demand, someone will tokenize it.”

Real estate, private equity, art, and commodities all have valid use cases  –  but the key is market appetite and investor belief in upside. Tokenization removes barriers; it doesn’t change human behavior.

🎮 Gamification Is the Missing Layer in RWA Adoption

What sets Brickken apart isn’t just infrastructure  –  it’s investor engagement.

“Crowdfunding never had global reach until utility tokens introduced gamification,” says Mata. “Crypto showed us how to make investing engaging, not just transactional.”

Brickken leverages this insight by integrating gamified user experiences into investment journeys  –  making capital participation accessible, exciting, and sticky.

🧱 Infrastructure: In-House First, Outsource Strategically

While Brickken now handles all development in-house, Mata is realistic about early-stage tradeoffs:

“When you’re validating an MVP, you don’t always have the resources. Outsourcing to dev shops makes sense when entering unfamiliar tech  –  like Ripple or non-EVM chains.”

But long-term? In-house tech is a competitive moat  –  and Brickken’s now fully internalized its stack to stay nimble and secure.

🚀 RWA: The Original Vision of Blockchain, Finally Realized

“Blockchain was always meant to be a finance tool,” Mata asserts. “Bitcoin started as peer-to-peer money. Tokenization is just us returning to the original mission  –  transforming capital markets.”

While NFTs and DeFi were powerful experiments, RWA tokenization is arguably blockchain’s most foundational, systemic use case. It’s not a hype wave  –  it’s a realignment with the roots of the technology.

“We haven’t even scratched the surface of what RWA will become,” Mata says. “It’s only beginning.”
